FROM AFRICA TO LONDON

Africa Fashion Week London closed on 10th August 2025. A week long celebration of African Fashion in London.

Queen Ronke Ademiluyi-Ogunwusi, of the Ile-Ife Kingdom has worked tirelessly for 15 years to bring this prestigious Fashion event to London. A true testament to resilience and fortitude.

The event took place at Space House, in Covent Garden, London and was a gathering of Fashion Designers from around Africa, guests from London and other areas and the media. It was a welcoming environment.

Four catwalk shows took place over the weekend, with designers showing including David Wej, Efata by Juba, Y’Wara, House of Estree, Sissymeme Couture and the British Council Creative DNA Programme Designers.

Bola Obileye, Creative Director of AFWL presented the show as well as showcasing her fashion brand, Tote London.

Hair was done by Pretty Gorgeous Hair and styled in voluminous wrap styles with rubber, leather and gold thread. Models Fumi Desalu Vold and others walked the catwalk, showing representation of all ages, sizes and races proving that fashion is for everyone.

An exhibition space was available for guests to visit at no cost, allowing a wider audience to experience and purchase from Black, Black Mixed heritage and African Designers. Space House London’s unique circular shape allowed for a 360 degree shopping experience, which was unique to Africa Fashion Week 2025.

Guests came prepared to see and be seen, in a range of traditional regalia and modern silhouettes ready for the red carpet. Designers and Fashion lovers alike, wore bold colours, mixed hemlines and voluminous shapes, ready to take centre stage.
